Reuters reports confirms MacRyu’s earlier iPhone reports

Reuters has put out news that Singtel will indeed launch the 3G iPhone in Singapore in August 2008. This is in sync with our earlier reports about having the 3G iPhone launch before September, rather than the original September release the local mass media has been trumpeting for months. More information here.

Given how I’ve had some issues lately with my iPhone 3G battery, part of the Rogers exchange involves sending back my old iPhone to them. Obviously before you do so, it is imperative that you erase and reset your iPhone to its original state–unless you want someone looking through all your emails, texts, and pictures!

Anyways, the magic of iPhone firmware 2.0 is that Apple has included basically a “nuke” button that will erase and reset your iPhone 3G. It’s a pretty simple process that is pretty…boring…but how else would you expect it to be? Since it’s not everyday that people use this erase and reset, I decided to film the “excitement” and this is what I came up with…enjoy!

How to Erase and Reset your iPhone 3G

1. Go to Settings–General–Reset–Erase All Content and Settings (the process will take about an hour–make sure you have sufficient battery life).

Singtel sent the following email to all its customers who reserved the iPhone. One interesting fact is that Singtel claims that the iPhone runs on not only 3G, but 3.5G (HSDPA). If that is the case, our iPhone will run much faster than the US one. Wonder how true this is. Edit: As our commenter points [...]

If you recall my iPhone 3G battery issue, I had to wait patiently for Rogers to ship me a new iPhone. Most of the time it’s a hit or miss when you try to call up Rogers/Fido to get your tracking number if you’ve ordered online. However, that can be changed as there is a way for you to track your own order online.

How to Track your Rogers/Fido iPhone 3G Order Online

Depending on where your iPhone is coming from, it will most likely be shipped via UPS. Follow these steps:

    1. Visit www.ups.com
    2. Click on the “Tracking” tab on the top left.
    3. Click on “Track by Reference” on the left column.
    4. On the page, where it says “Shipment Reference”, enter your Rogers/Fido phone number, including area code. You don’t need to enter anything else.
    5. Click “Track” on the bottom right.
    6. If your order has been entered into the UPS system, VOILA! Your shipment details should be there!
